Oral alcohol administration disturbs tear film and ocular surface.

Ethanol in tears induced tear hyperosmolarity and shortened TBUT and triggered the development of ocular surface diseases.

Similar changes could exacerbate signs and symptoms in patients with ocular surface disease.
