Cancer chemotherapy in infants and children.

Abstract

The narrow therapeutic index and potentially life-threatening toxicities of the antineoplastic agents require a clear understanding of their toxicologic and pharmacologic properties, particularly in infants and children.

This article reviews the literature published in the last five years on pediatric cancer chemotherapy.

It begins with an overview of new concepts in antineoplastic therapy and then summarizes each of the main drugs used to treat the cancer of infants and children.
